This Pittsburgh family photography session at Mellon Park included the whole family, even pets! Mom and Dad brought their twin babies, elderly cat, and husky along for their photos. It made for such a sweet session that captured this season of their family exactly as it is right now.

Mellon Park is such a beautiful location for family photos in Pittsburgh. It can also get pretty busy, so I usually recommend scheduling sessions here on a weekday. Having a little more space and fewer people around makes the experience much more relaxed, especially when babies and pets are involved!
This family also enlisted the help of a few friends, which was so smart. They were there to hold a baby or take care of one of the animals as we moved through different combinations. With twin babies, a husky, and a cat, having a few extra hands made everything go so smoothly.
I was so impressed with how much they were juggling AND they arrived on time with two babies and two pets!
Making Family Photos Feel a Little Easier
Before the session, my friend Nicole who does hair and makeup, went to their home to help Noor get ready. I love being able to offer professional hair and makeup to my clients. Having someone come directly to you makes getting ready for photos feel so much easier, especially when you have little ones at home.
Once we were at Mellon Park, we kept things relaxed and moved at the family’s pace. Mom and Dad were the most laid-back, happy, and loving couple. Their personalities made photographing their family so much fun.
Including Your Pets in Family Photos
I always love when families want to include their pets in their session. They are part of the family, too! Their cat and husky are such an important part of their lives, and I’m glad we were able to document them alongside the twins.
Family photos don’t have to be perfectly posed or complicated. Some of my favorite images come from simply letting everyone interact and capturing the connections that are already there.
